Have An Hour? Five DIY Home Projects That Make A Big Impact

Blog

Home improvement projects don't have to cost big money or take weeks to complete. There are several project that you can complete in an hour or less and for very little money. Here are a few ideas for projects that you can complete this weekend to make a big impact on your home.

1. Painting

The average-size room takes about two gallons of paint to complete. Your room may need more or less paint depending on its size. Paint a focal wall, or paint the whole room. The choice is yours! Painting can make your entire room look new and interesting in very little time.

2. Faucets

You may not believe your eyes when you see the way that a new faucet can transform the look of your kitchen or bathroom. Faucets are relatively easy to replace and are available at a variety of price points. While some plumbing work is best left to the professionals such as workers from C J Plumbing & Heating, changing out a faucet is doable on your own.

3. Add Privacy

Are you one of the unlucky home owners with a window in your shower? Maybe you have neighbors that are a bit too nosy for comfort. No matter the reason, add privacy to your windows with window film. You can choose film that gives your windows a stained glass appearance or film that makes your windows look like etched glass. The choices are almost endless.

4. Clean Your Floors

If you have hardwood or tile, spend an hour cleaning them until they shine. If you have carpeting, spend 60 minutes shampooing it with a professional-grade machine. You can rent carpet shampooers from many hardware stores if you don't have your own. Clean floors instantly brighten the look of a room.

5. Power Wash the House

Rent a power washer or borrow one from a friend. Wash the outside of your house, and wash the grime from your gutters. By the time you're done, you will be surprised by just how dirty your house really was. If you have more time, give the driveway, deck, porch or sidewalks a good washing, too! Even if your surfaces aren't stained, they are still holding onto dirt and debris that can be easily washed off.

If you have an hour to spare and a bit of cash to spend, why not make some small changes to your home? Every home improvement project doesn't require weeks to complete! You can make a big impact to your home on your next day off!
